Osteopathy

Osteopathy was founded over 150 years ago, as a way to treat pain by considering the person as a whole. Osteopaths learn to approach healthcare in a way that recognises someones physical symptoms, their lifestyle and their mental health, and aims to improve how they feel in all aspects of themselves.

What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a holistic approach to healthcare that focuses on the relationship between our skeletons and muscles, and how we move. Osteopaths believe that the body has a natural ability to heal itself, and their goal is to support and facilitate this process.

How can osteopathy help?

Osteopaths use a variety of manual techniques, such as manipulation, massage, and stretching, to improve how your body moves.

Osteopathy can help many different concerns, including:

  • Back Pain
  • Neck Pain
  • Pregnancy Pain
  • Sports Injuries
  • Sciatica
  • Headaches and migraines

If at all you’re unsure if osteopathy can help you, give us a call!

What can I expect?

At your first appointment your osteopath will ask you lots of questions about your pain, lifestyle and medical history. This is part of our assessment.

After assessment, we will give you a plain English diagnosis of the cause of your pain.

Usually, we’ll ease your symptoms using hands-on treatment, which we will talk you through during the session.

Lastly, we’ll prescribe you with some simple lifestyle changes or exercises you can do to reduce your pain for the long term.
